WHAT IS NEW:

We’ve all heard about inflammation and how  certain foods can increase or decrease inflammation in our bodies. But what exactly is inflammation? Anti-Inflammatory Foods and Recipes starts out by defining inflammation: what it is, the difference between acute and chronic inflammation, what happens in your body during inflammation, ailments that can be caused by inflammation, and what causes inflammation in the first place. This provides the reader with the basic understanding needed before then delving into what to do to prevent it.

WHAT IS AUTHENTIC:

Beverly Lynn Bennett is an experienced vegan chef and baker and she includes 75 of her favorite anti-inflammatory recipes in this book. In addition to recipes to expect to see like smoothies, soups, and salads, Bennett also includes recipes for sauerkraut, refrigerator pickles, grits, and even “blender pancakes”.

WHAT IS KIND:

Although many lifestyle factors contribute to inflammation in the body, a poor diet is chief among them.  Bennett incorporates the most anti-inflammatory foods–those with the highest concentrations of phytochemicals and other inflammatory-fighting nutrients—into her recipes.

WHAT IS ENLIGHTENED:

Anti-Inflammatory Foods recognizes that while diet can be a main contributor to inflammation in the body, it isn’t the only factor. Bennett also explores other lifestyle factors, such as aging, inactivity, sleep deprivation, stress, and others.

IS THIS BOOK FOR YOU?

If you suffer from chronic or acute inflammation or just looking for ways to prevent it through the power of your diet, this book is for you. The only caveat is that some of the recipes call for olive oil, which, while considered to be an inflammation-fighting ingredient, is not a whole food, and therefore not a part of the Naked Food way of eating.
